Part of the Drumanilra Organic Farm Group, Carraig Rua was set up by Liam and Justina Gavin to supply premium, organic baked goods to their Honestly Farm Kitchen Restaurants, Farm Shops and others.
We renovated our bakery in 2021, adding a five deck oven, a rotating oven, a laminating machine and more. In 2022 we expanded our distribution to include local farmers markets as well as nearby hotels and restaurants.
Our Breads
From 48 hour fermented sourdough breads to hand rolled croissants, we know it takes time to create something special.
We use only premium organic flours, no preservatives, no artificial flavourings, no nasties.
Our Team
Our Head Baker, Michael, has baked all over the world, from Norway to Romania, Spain to West Cork. Michael is a strong believer in traditional artisan techniques, natural ingredients and no preservatives. Michael is joined by Liviu and Jurga who bring years of experience to the bakery.
Traditionally trained and highly skilled, our bakers are passionate about their craft.
Our Philosophy
Our underlying philosophy is to use natural ingredients and traditional methods to create delicious, authentic bakes. We bake in small batches, by hand, using high-quality ingredients to give our bakes the perfect balance in taste, texture and aroma.
